The Higher School of Gastronomy, Hostelry and Tourism of Toledo (ESGHT) has received a delegation from the Department of Education of the Pudong District of Shaghai, which had shown interest in knowing in detail some aspects of the educational system of Castilla-La Mancha and, more specifically in Vocational Training, basically in its double vision of academic preparation and orientation to the labor market.
The delegation, headed by its deputy executive director, Wan Hao, who was attended by the director of Vocational Training; the director of Development, directors of the main schools and other high-ranking officials of his department, has been accompanied at all times by the director of our center, Manuel Conde, and the head of Studies, Ricardo Rubio.
The displacement of the Chinese authorities from Shanghai to Toledo takes place within the framework of the activities of the True Spanish Experience organization of dissemination of the values of Castilla-La Mancha and its promotion as an educational destination at an international level.
During this meeting, the delegation made a tour of the facilities showing particular interest in the kitchens and the practices of the students. The presence in this course of a Chinese student has made a great impression on visitors who have encouraged their compatriot to continue striving to achieve their dreams.
The Chinese representatives have expressed their willingness to strengthen the current lines of work such as the sports and cultural summer camps of Castilla-La Mancha for Chinese students from Shanghai to complete their studies in Castilla-La Mancha in certain branches of Vocational Training such as Tourism or the Hospitality.
FINANCIAL CAPITAL. The district of Pudong is considered the financial capital of Asia and has more than five million inhabitants and one of the highest income levels in China. Due to its avant-garde architecture and cosmopolitan character, it is also, after the Forbidden City of Beijing and the Great Wall, the third most important tourist destination in China and even more important, the city of Shanghai is the main source of Chinese tourists abroad.
Its Ministry of Education is responsible for 628 schools where 470,000 students are trained with 40,000 permanent teachers (33,000 for curricular subjects and 7,000 for support) and, among them, the Specialized Schools in Tourism and Hospitality excel.
As with other reference countries (USA, France, Japan ...) the authorities of Shanghai are interested in the establishment of collaboration agreements in educational matters to complement the training of their Tourism and Hostelry professionals.
After the tour of the facilities, the delegation was able to taste a tasting menu prepared and served by the students of the School.
